🔒 Fine Limitations Starting July 1, 2025

ATTENTION ALL CALIFORNIA Common Interest Developments

A new California law—AB130—goes into effect on July 1, 2025, and sets new limits on fines for rule violations.

🔹 What AB130 Does:

Caps fines at $100 maximum per violation

✅ Applies to HOAs

🔸 What AB130 Does Not Require:

❌ You do NOT need to change your rules or governing documents

✅ You MUST follow the new law starting July 1, 2025🚫 Do NOT charge more than $100 for any fine—even if your rules allow more

✅ What You Should Do:

📣 Notify your members of the change

📚 Train your staff or board on the new limit

🛠️ Adjust enforcement practices to stay compliant

📝 Optional: Update your written rules

⚠️ REMEMBER:

🔸 You can keep your current rules

🔸 You must follow the $100 cap

🔸 Overcharging fines after July 1, 2025, is a violation of state law

📅 Effective Date: July 1, 2025

For questions or legal advice, consult a compliance expert or attorney familiar with California law.

📝 Stay informed. Stay compliant. Respect the new cap.
